Winter Survival Guide for Small Space-ers

So how does winter survival relate to small living? Well I think winters can be particularly tough on small spacers. We don’t have space for all the boots + coats + gear required (or at least we struggle to make it all fit!). It can feel hard to get outside when we really need to. The lack of daylight can be especially hard on us.

So with the stuggles of winter in a small space in mind, I am sharing my list from my notes app of things to do, buy or schedule to hold my focus on during colder and darker days. A wise friend who suggested the list also mentioned that fewer things on the list is better as we have more of a chance of doing a few things well rather than spreading ourselves too thin across many priorities. Take a look at this season of your life and make a list that feels possible to you. Maybe my list is too much if you have babies and toddlers at home.

Some more details from the list…

  • I have been waking up for 6am walks with a couple friends twice a week for the past year. We walk for about an hour and get a coffee at the local coffee shop at the end. We wear weighted vests (Do they work? We don’t know, but we think it makes the walk harder. We can’t walk longer and we walk as fast as we can so the vest feels like a little extra effort, 12 lbs to be exact. My vest here ). The walks definitely helps with starting the day in a better mood.

  • I have ordered new waterproof runners and I’m not happy with them. So I’m either going to suffer with them or keep looking for a better pair. Do all waterproof runners feel like you are wearing a cardboard box? They do keep my feet dry in the rain.

  • A longer raincoat has been found and i’m happy with it so far!

  • My favourite sewing tutorials here .

  • My redlight mask here and code ALISON10 for a discount. 10 mins a day 4-5 days a week.

  • Have not had a successful new recipe yet but will keep at it. Finding something that everyone likes in our family feels like winning the lottery.

What’s on your winter survival list? Would love to hear. A few other Winter Survival List items from my friends.

  • Winter vegetable gardening

  • an intricate paint by number

  • take an improv class

  • take a pottery class

  • Gua-sha nightly

Happy small space wintering!
