Get Outside: Toddler Activities

Part of living small is accepting that your space can't be everything to you.  In the case of our 3 year old, we try to enrol him in one activity per week that teaches him a new skill, gets him out of the house and most importantly, tires him out.  He has been in Soccer on Saturdays for the last year and a half which has been great for him but we decided to try something new and enrolled him at Rhythm Gym gymnastics.

We are loving gymnastics, it is an attentive teacher led, small class. In the 45 minute class, Theo  has to follow specific and detailed instructions while always moving.  In 2 classes he came home and could do an un-assisted somersault! Also, he naps HARD when he comes home which is my mark of a good class. I wish I was organized enough this month to plan to have his birthday party (more info here) at their space (next year!). Oh and the best part, he pronounces gymnastics as "giz-nastics" with such sincerity and I hope that never changes.

As we approach the end of daycare and the start of part-time pre-school while I am on maternity leave, I am keeping my eyes and ears open for more paid and un-paid activities outside the home to keep my very active 3 year old busy.  Some classes/activities on my must try list are:

Collage Collage - Drop In Art Classes
Community Centre  - Parent and Tot Gym
Neighbourhood House - Family Drop In
Science World - Yearly Membership
Library

Do you have any other Vancouver area activities/events you recommend?
