Small Space Furniture Round-up: Wall Sconces (plug-in)

Oh gosh I don’t know if i’ve ever let 2 months pass without a blog post but here we are. I’ve had thoughts swirling around in my head just trying to find the time to get them out. I wanted to share some of the themes that come up again and again during our small space chats. Mood, ambient and focused lighting in a small space can make a big difference in making a space cozy, warm and multi-functional. But sparing shelf space or floor space for an additional table or floor lamp can be a challenge so I love to suggest a wall sconce. A wall sconce is a way to add lighting without losing any space. If you have the ability to hire an electrician and add a junction box, your options are unlimited for wall sconces. But most of us don’t have the time or budget for this or r(ental restrictions don’t allow for it) so a great solution is a plug in wall sconce.

Consider how you will use the light for placement… will it be a reading light? Maybe consider a shaded lamp. Is it to add light to a darker room? Consider a glass globe lamp.

Here are a few favourites I’m drawn to at varying pricepoints…

Hay Matin Plug-in Sconce

Love this little light that comes in fun

colours. Have been eyeing the

Lavender one myself, but knowing me

would end up with the white. Designed

by Inge Sempé.

EQ3 Custom Wall Lamp

I like the simple design of this light and

that it can later be repurposed as a

pendant if needed. The cord is quite

long so beware of that. Also bulb

choice is important. 2700k is my

preferred choice and Tala is a great

option.

Sarah Sherman Samuel for West Elm

Everything she touches, I swear! A fun

light to act like art on a wall while

adding glow.

Available at West Elm $329 at time of

Luminaire Authentik Arch-S-1-LA40

Hard to choose one from LA but love

the shape of this one and it comes with

a cord option. Lots of other great

options too. Montreal-made is a plus!

Available at Luminaire Authentik $330

Asano Paper Moon Lamp 04

While this looks like a table lamp I have

seen it mounted on a wall and is quite

lovely with a soft glow. A number of

retailers carry this brand of paper

lanterns of various stylish shapes.

Available at Old Faithful $214.95 at time

I could go on and on but will stop here and hopefully you’ve found some inspiration to consider mounting some lights on the wall. Also don’t forget to look second-hand for these lights or similar. Next time my favourite plug-in pendants for when you don’t have a ceiling light!
