The High Chair

I realized I forgot to mention that when we switched from our kitchen island and barstool set up to our extending dining table and chairs that we were finally able to get a proper high chair for Theo.  Previously we used the Phil and Ted’s Lobster for everyday use and for travel.  The weight limit is for the Lobster is 37lbs but we were finding Theo was a bit squished in it. Mostly, as he became more independent we wanted him to be able to get in and out of a chair without our help.

I have always had my eye on the classic lines and smart design of the Stokke Tripp Trapp.  A classic since 1972 the Tripp Trapp grows with your little one.  I wish we had this highchair since his first solid food days.  As with most baby items in our home we decided to buy this used, though now having had it for about 6 months I think it is worth buying new if you have the funds.  So few kid or baby items are as simple and beautiful as this piece.  Also I love that Theo sits with us and shares the same table without a segregated tray that many high chairs have.  I find it is easier to expect good table manners from him when he feels a part of the family (not to say that good table manners don’t require constant supervision and feedback from us!).

ps. my dream of a rug under our dining table is still a distant dream as you can see from the crumbs (and meals) that are forever falling from his place at the table.
